A New Summer Do

I love Jack's hair.

But summer in Vegas is just too hot for it.

So Aunt Lauren was kind enough to buzz it.
And we had a little fun too . . .

He will get used to it. :)

Happy 18 Months Jack!

I'm a little behind in posting about Jack turning 18 months - but here it is!

July 14, 2010 Jack hit the 18 month mark!

I just can't believe how time is flying.

He is so much fun and so full of personality.

He knows exactly what he wants and stays determined.

I sure hope that characteristic sticks around.

Even though it is difficult to deal with as a toddler, I can imagine that sense of determination will benefit him as an adult.

I just love him to pieces.

We decided to take Jack out for his "birthday" so we got Happy Meals at McDonald's and then bought this car for him.

He looooves it!
Jason even personalized his license plate for him.

So Long, Farewell

Today my brother Matt went to the Missionary Training Center to begin his mission. In a few months he will be headed to Mexico City, Mexico.

Here he is saying goodbye to our sister Becca.

Matt will be amazing. He is so intelligent and determined.

I will be offering lots of prayers on his behalf.

I will be missing him a lot too, however, I know this is a good thing.

Happy 8th Anniversary

4th of July

Fourth of July was a HUGE deal to our family when we were kids. We would spend the day swimming and then hours lighting off fireworks that we had carefully picked out and placed in order from smallest to largest.

I thought it was so fun that we are able to carry on this tradition with Jack. Last week Aunt Becca and Grandpa Dave (otherwise known as Pop Pops) took Jack to pick out fireworks.

(Maybe I am in love with this first picture because Pop Pops and Jack have the same "hair-do" HA!) Dad teaching Jack how to throw Snaps.

Jack was so funny with his expressions while he watched the fireworks.

The kid has no fear.

Thanks Grandma, Pop Pops, Aunt Becca and Uncle Matt for a fun filled day of fireworks, swimming, naps, good food and "The Sandlot."

A Visit With The Bailey Family

Last week we spent time with Jason's family in Salt Lake City, UT. We all took off work for a few days and spent time together. We had such a nice time and Jack REALLY enjoyed playing with his cousins. It was so darling to watch him try to keep up with the bigger kids.

Hogle Zoo

I was so excited to take Jack to the zoo. I remember going there as a kid when we would visit family in SLC. Jason and I tried to get him to look at the animals . . . but all he was interested in was the ball in the elephant's area and the carousel.

Cherry Hill

I hadn't ever been to Cherry Hill water park, but Jason's family has lots of memories there. We took the kids there for the day and Jack went down his first water slide.

Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Bailey for making this get together happen! We really had a fun time!

Super Jack!

We are back from a visit with family and we are now trying to get life back in order.

I have super fun pictures to post from our last week - but I first need to get back in gear with real life.

However, when Jason sent me this picture today, I HAD to post it.

Peek-A-Boo

Today Jack thought he was hilarious playing peek-a-boo from the inside of a Huggies box. He was belly laughing uncontrollably. I just had to get a few pictures.
And here he is giving me the sign language for "all done."

Jack's Crocodile Tears

We seriously think that Jack produces the biggest crocodile tears known to man. Look at that sad little face. How can you possibly get mad over a tantrum?

Torture . . . I Mean Swimming Lessons

We have started swim lessons for Jack.

The kid has no fear of my parents' pool. Thus, swim lessons have begun.

Right now Jack is learning to roll to his back and float. The instructor is trying to teach survival in case Jack were to fall into a pool.

Frankly, he hates it.

All the kids do.

In fact, he cried so hard yesterday that he puked in the pool.

Just like all the other kids.

Our instructor is so sweet and patient. Even with kids screaming in her ear for hours a day.

Jack is actually doing very well. I think I have a little fishie on my hands!

This morning when you sent this picture to me from your hotel room in Vancouver I was totally jealous!And I wished I was with you even more when I discovered that our son gagged on chicken nuggets, spit them out and then re-ate them.

Memory on Memorial Day

Dear Gavin,

Yesterday was Memorial Day - a day to remember those who have passed on before us. We went to visit with you last night. I decided that I wanted to write to you about one of my favorite memories with you. I hope you remember it as well as I do . . .

Physical therapy was one of my favorite times with you at PCMC. It was the first time I was allowed to pick you up and play with you. You were two months old the first time this happened. Up to that point I had only cradled you in my arms and touched you as you laid in you bed. No doubt those are precious moments too.

This particular day the therapist brought a play mat over to your bedside. We played with you for a bit but you tired quickly. In fact, you fell asleep right in the middle of your therapy session! We decided you looked so comfortable asleep in the boppy on the floor so I just laid beside you and watched you sleep. So precious.

That was the first time I laid by your side. I cherish that memory. It may seem like a small thing so many.

But it made me feel like a "normal" mom . . . almost.

Being your mom and Jack's mom is one of the most precious gifts that God has given to me.

I love you. I miss you. I can't wait to hold you again.

I hope you have good memories of your time here with us. I hope that amidst your pain and suffering that you had moments of happiness, joy and love. I know that some of my greatest moments of happiness were being with you.
