The Family Comedian

My boys are always making me laugh.

I guess I encourage them a little . . .

So, it shouldn't have been a surprise when this conversation occurred at bed time the other night.

Me : Jack, do you want mom or dad to rock you tonight?

Jack : Hmmmm . . .(thinking and tapping his chin with a pointer finger) BABY OWEN!

HA! He is trying to avoid bedtime at all costs, I guess!

Easter Promises

Last night for family night we went to visit Gavin and take down his Easter decorations.

As we were leaving the house Jack said, "Show Gavin monkey!"

So we let him take his monkey to "show Gavin." I watched Jack walk up to his brother's picture and show him his monkey.

Then I wonder - is this twisted or what?

Is it normal that my son thinks that a picture is really his brother?

I know this can't be normal.

Then it dawns on me, yet again, that this is our normal.

The rest of our lives Jack will look at the same pictures of Gavin that we have looked at so many times before.

There will never be any new pictures of him.

Jack and Owen will change - but Gavin will always remain a baby in a picture to them.

This past weekend we celebrated Easter.

Easter in our house has the fun of the Easter Bunny and the Easter Egg Hunts - but to us, Easter has a much deeper and personal meaning.

It is the day that our Savior was resurrected and given us all the opportunity to be reunited again.

It is a day that reminds us of promises and brings joy to a mother's heart.

In our home, Easter reminds me that someday I will see all three of my boys together.

Eternal and reunited.

And we won't just have to look at pictures any more.

All You Need Is Love . . . And a Little Space

Baby Owen is mauled (I mean VERY loved) by his big brother Jack all the time.

It is difficult to remember that Jack is only two and just wants to love his brother.

I find myself saying the same thing over and over . . .

"Don't cover Owen's face with your blanket!"

"Don't kiss him on the face!"

"Don't push his baby swing so high!"

"Quit trying to step on his head!"

"Baby Owen doesn't need to drink your chocolate milk!"

"Don't shove your toys in his face!"

I am grateful Jack loves Owen so much and wants him to be involved with family life . . . we just have to remind Jack to give Baby Owen a little space once in awhile too.

Easter Egg Hunt

Yesterday we had an Easter Egg Hunt with some friends!

Jack finally got the idea of the hunt.

There was candy in the eggs . . . it didn't take long to figure that one out!

SO fun!

Owen's Baby Blessing

Today we were able to have Jason bless Baby Owen.

It was such a special day.

I am so grateful for days like this.

We had all of Jason's family in town and many of my family members.

I am truly grateful to a Father in Heaven.

My heart is full.

M.I.A.

I feel like we have been "missing in action" from the real world for the past two weeks. Jack has had a really nasty virus and the stomach flu for seven days. Our carpets were covered with every blanket in our house and we had buckets strategically placed all over as well.

A puking two year old is NOT fun!

And, as we are learning with two kids at home, when one gets sick the other does as well. We aren't sure if Owen picked up the virus or if he is choking on his reflux. In any case, the doctor was pretty proactive and has set us up with breathing treatments and reflux medication. Poor little guy! This is scary for a paranoid mom like me!

The Boys Bathroom

Jason decided he needed a "project."

So the boys bathroom was targeted.

He painted put up the beadboard and made the picture frames.

I made the hooded towels and picked out the decorations.

I like it!

It is a fun room for little boys to destroy . . .
