I have been thinking lately about all of the people who have lost children and have had struggles with their children's health. I feel so ashamed that it has taken this kind of personal experience for me to truly empathize with people who have to carry these very difficult burdens. This poem was given to us by one of the kind receptionists at the mortuary here in Las Vegas when we went to dress Gavin. It's simple and sweet . . . and for those of you that hurt, I hope you can find a smile today. We are thinking about you.
When God calls little children
to dwell with him above
we mortals always question
the wisdom of His love.
For no heartache can compare with
the death of one small child.
Who does so much to make this world
seem wonderful and mild.
Perhaps God tires
always calling the aged to his fold
and He picks but a few
to make the land of heaven
more beautiful to view.
Believing this is difficult
still somehow we must try.
The saddest word that mankind knows
will always be "good-bye."
And so when little ones depart,
we who are left behind,
must realize how much God loves children
for Angels are hard to find.
